Looking Ahead to 2026: A Big Year for Our ECL Family

As we step into 2026, I can’t help but feel excited about everything ahead for ECL. Last year was full of brilliant moments, big laughs, new friendships, and plenty of proud achievements and I know this year is going to bring even more of that energy.
Small Steps, Big Wins
One thing I’ve learned from our members is that progress doesn’t have to be loud or flashy. Sometimes it’s trying a new activity, joining in a conversation, or simply showing up on a day when things feel a bit tough. Those moments matter. They’re the ones that build confidence, connection, and joy.
And honestly, watching our members grow - in their own ways and at their own pace - is one of the best parts of this job. I’ve been ECL’s charity coordinator for over 25 years now and I can honestly say it’s been my greatest privilege to spend week in, week out with people who show such resilience, despite their disabilities.

Our Theme for 2026: “I Can”
This year, we’re keeping things simple with a theme that sums up everything we believe in at ECL: “I Can.”
- I can try something new.
- I can be part of a group.
- I can learn, laugh, and enjoy myself.
- I can be proud of who I am.
We see these “I Can” moments every single week, and in 2026 we want to celebrate them even more.
More Activities, More Confidence, More Fun
We’ve got lots planned for the year ahead - more inclusive sessions, more creative opportunities, days out and more ways for our members to get involved, speak up, and shine. Whether it’s dancing, cooking, drama, sports, or just spending time with friends, we want everyone to feel welcome and supported.
We’re also looking forward to building stronger links with our local community. The more people who understand what we do- and why it matters - the stronger and more inclusive Elmbridge becomes.
A Year Full of Possibility
If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that our members will continue to surprise us, inspire us, and remind us what community really means. Their resilience, humour, and kindness set the tone for everything we do.
In 2026, we’ll keep focusing on:
Confidence - helping members believe in themselves
Connection - building friendships and community
Creativity - encouraging expression in all its forms
Choice - making sure members shape their own experiences
Thank You for Being Part of Our Journey
To our members, families, carers, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who cheers us on - thank you. You’re the reason ECL feels like a family.
Here’s to a year of possibility, positivity, and plenty of “I Can” moments. I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings for all of us.
